ZooFriends The Oklahoma Zoological Society (OZS ZooFriends) was created in 1954 to support and promote the Zoo and its four purposes of education, conservation, zoological research and recreation. OZS does this through membership drives, annual fund-raising, capital campaigns, marketing, special events and public relations.
Since its founding, OZS has provided the Zoo with more than $155 million in direct support. More than 18,000 ZooFriends member households help the Society preserve the natural world through memberships and donations, and they continue to spread the word about our great Zoo. A volunteer board of directors serves as the governing body for OZS.
OZS plans and produces annual fundraising events held on Zoo grounds. Also, OZS hosts the Capture the Wild Zoo Photo Contest to help produce a colorful ZooFriends calendar distributed to ZooFriends members each winter.
